Juventus vs. Inter Milan! Ranieri vs. Mancini! Trezeguet vs. Crespo! Del Piero vs.
Ibrahimovic!
It's called Derby D' Italia, and this historic football rivalry features top Italian Serie A clubs Juventus and Inter Milan. Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan are currently leading the Italian Serie A standings with 24 points while Juventus is close behind in 4th spot with 20 points.
However, these point standings don't matter when Juventus and Inter Milan clash this Sunday, November 4. What matters is pride as the fans of these two clubs are known to be very fanatic about the Derby D' Italia, and the winner of this famous rivalry will win great confidence and momentum, which eventually can lead to more wins in the upcoming matches.
Of course, there is also the history behind the InterMilan-Juventus rivalry. When Juventus was relegated to the Italian Serie B due to a match-fixing scandal for the 2006-07 season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Patrick Vieira left Juventus for Inter Milan. With Juventus back in the Italian Serie A, it will be interesting to see how the Juventus fans welcome Ibrahimovic and Vieira on the Juventus home pitch at the Stadi Olimpico in Turin, Italy.
Roberto Mancini, the head coach of Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan will be looking to the likes of team captain Javier Zanetti, Julio Cruz, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Esteban Cambiasso, Luis Figo and Hernan Crespo. Former Juventus player Patrick Vieira won't be on the line-up for Inter Milan due to injuries. So, perhaps, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be bearing most of the boos from the Juventus fans.
Juventus coach Claudio Ranieri will be looking to his key players like Alessandro Del Piero, Pavel Nedved, Cardoso Tiago, Mauro Camoranesi and Italian Serie A top goal-scorer David Trezeguet, who already has 10 goals this season.
Apart from having the home pitch advantage at Turin, Juventus may also have the advantage of a better goalkeeper. Ginalugi Buffon, the FIFPro's Goalkeeper of the Year, will be in goal for Juventus. Meanwhile, Inter Milan will have to rely on 3rd choice keeper Paolo Orlandoni since Inter Milan's other keepers are out on injuries. Inter's Julio Cesar has a back problem and Francesco Toldo has a broken metatarsal.
Inter Milan will have to keep its composure in front of a hostile Juventus crowd in the Stadio Olimpico in Turin, Italy, especially for the Derby D' Italia. While they may look like a more reputable team based on its super-star line-up, it looks like Juventus have the nothing-to-lose mentaltiy that just might bring them the glory.
