Arshavin Agent In Shock

"I'm in shock" says Arshavin agent, Denis Lahter. HERE

It now emerges that Zenit are, surprise surprise playing silly buggers (my technical jargon may leave you for dead occasionally, but do try and keep up, dear reader) over the lolly.

Basically Citizen Levy has done the deal and the fee is agreed at a whopping nice price (if you're charging) of €25 miliion euros.

The stumbling block is now that Zenit are demanding the loot be handed over within 18 months rather than the four year period specified by Spurs. Now, Lahter, Andrei's agent doesn't specifically state that Tottenham had agreed four years and Zenit have now renaged.

However he is bewildered by the Russian's behaviour when it is common practise for clubs (and he cites Manchester United and Real Madrid as examples) to pay over extended periods such as this when transacting in such huge amounts.

When asked if the deal was dead Lahter answered, "As long as there is time there are some chances"

The reality - if we are to believe this scheming cockAroach of an agent is that Levy is behaving like the director of a club (only one of five in the Premiership) with no debts and a budget. He's danced to their tune and now they've pushed him too far.

Another album cover by the same band would have been just as apt.

H as a fairly new member of your readership! I can't help but notice the fact that there was huge gaps between posts whereas today i've been busy posting on a page only to see everyone had already moved on to the next (daft c-unit that I am).
Can I deduce from the increased frequency that your Mrs is away for the weekend? ;) =D

Four things occur to me:
1) Zenit don't want Arshavin to leave, and are creating artificial stumbling-blocks to the deal going through.
2) Zenit are trying to set precedents for any future deals. The club is aware that a talisman is potentially leaving and, anticipating future PL enquiries for other players, are trying to establish operational protocols for fleecing interested clubs.
3) The first two may be rubbish.
4) I really hope Arshavin comes. Please. Pretty please.

Maybe this saga is a bit like a John Le Carre novel. If so, Levy ought to have recruited Smiley, so he's still to blame.

Andrey Arshavina Denis Lahter's representative said time and again that before closing трансферного windows in Europe remain with its ward chances to replace club. The correspondent of "Sports" has contacted agent ФИФА in hope to learn, whether there are no shifts in an epopee of Arshavina. - Denis, Englishmen still are not ready to pay 25 million for Andrey? - Are ready, they have informed on it. They agree to lay out this sum for Arshavina. - so "Zenith" leaves Andrey? - Is not present. A position of a management of club, I will tell fairly, повергла me in a shock. - the club refuses to sell Andrey behind it the sounded sum? - Is not present. Not absolutely so. Legally to carp there is nothing. Simply now "Zenith" insists on that these of 25 million have paid within one and a half years, and Englishmen are ready to make it for 4 years. But it is world practice. Believe to the operating agent-expert that "Real", neither "Manchester United", nor any other club of similar requirements does not put forward. 4 years - normal term so it is accepted in relations between clubs at similar трансферных transactions. Just because it is the standard and widespread practice, Englishmen and left with such offer. And for this reason I consider that "Zenith" simply does not wish to release Andrey Arshavina. - In your opinion, chances what transition nevertheless will take place, remain? - I consider that before closing трансферного windows they are. While there is time, there are also any chances.

Maby it will go through crazy russians we agree 1 thing and they want another! but i just want this to happen so do what they say(within reason!)

Zenit want to sell Arshavin and want to get top dollar aswell. He WILL sign for us and Zenit will accept the last offer of £18m we put in tomorrow. Corluka deal is pretty well done and Man C would not have played him if they had his replacement available. Veloso will be at the lane in the morning. Berba will go for £28.5m.

Busy day tomorrow. And watch out for another one that no one imagined!!!

It was one thing when Dawson raced down the M1 to sign for us on the stroke of midnight but how do you sign a guy in Russia (assuming that's where he is) with a few hours notice, with medicals etc to complete?

I assume no one from spurs is out there...

Found this on an awful site but it scans well so I'm passing it on for your further entertainment and confusion...

"Corluka is signing as we speak and will be announced to the press first thing in the morning.

Arshavin, unfortunately, is not happening this side of Xmas. However, after talking with his agent, Levy is confident that the player will sign in January. The only reason this has not happened in time is due to the Russian clubs reluctance to do a deal by now…..but……

Diego Milito is about to board a plane for City Airport and will sign for Spurs, subject to his medical, tomorrow night, and I am talking late.

Veloso is NOT signing.

Kevin Prince Boateng is leaving for Celtic tonight on a two year deal.

Henrik Larson will sign a one year deal tomorrow at WHL as cover should Berbatov go. However, I must point out that it is now looking likely that Berba wil be STAYING until January at least. My source tells me that Levy and Co are so exasperated with the whole affair that this afternoon they called a meeting with Berbatovs agent (held via telephone due to Berbs agent currently being in Manchester) to inform him and his client that any deal is off and that Berba should report for training, first thing, on Monday morning.

Personally, Id rather he go now due to the detrimental effect he is having on the team.

Tottenham Chief Press Officer Philip Dorward has informed all the major wires and newsgroups that a Press Conference will be taking place at The Spurs Lodge in Press Suite 1 where Spurs will unveil the above final signings before the window closes. "

Roll on midnight tomorrow. Make that 00.40 when the coming of Rasiak was broadcast to the nation.

Personal terms have already been agreed with Arshavin (and Corluka). Deals can be finalised after the deadline (Defoe to Portsmouth?). Zenit may well dig there heels in but they have a replacement and need to recoup some of the money. I would say Arshavin 60%, Corluka 90%, Veloso 90%, Berba 100%

Defoe went to Pompy initially as a loan and was completed as a deal a couple of weeks later (once the Benjami thing was sorted). I would imagine the same sort of thing is possible. Loan him with a fixed fee agreed, pending medical, visa and work permit requirements.
