Player Ratings, Highlights & Thumbs Up From Gomes

My advice to readers make a concerted effort to consume booze whilst watching this match was in hindsight a masterplan.

That was one of those niggly, nothingy sort of games that never really threatened to spark and ultimately didn't.

I have also reached the conclusion for the umpteenth time that our sky blue kit is a thin, cheap looking polyester nasty and whoever sanctioned it is needs a change of career path. Word from the Megastore is sales have been abysmal - so not just me.

On a positive note, the one player that did catch my eye was their bloke in the Edgar David's wig. He was tip top. And yes, I do know who he is. Cheers.

Gomes 7 Confidence boosting game.

Gunter 6 Coped well at that level.

Woodgate 7 Marshalled things nicely. Halls Soother.

Dawson 6 Disaster / insane outburst free appearance.

Bale 6  Unconvinced he's match fit. Get him on the Centrums.

Bentley 6 Dwelt on the ball. He urgently needs a plan.

Zokora 5.5 Another Zokora shift. He's making me increasingly tetchy. Pass the Gaviscon.

Huddlestone 6 Struck down with Narrowpitchitis and Badpassing's Disease.

O'Hara 7 On the Fishermen's Friends. Arguably our most notable player.

Campbell 6 Could have done with some Tunes to help him shoot more easily or better service.

Bent 5 Worse than the Blackburn game. He is probably suffering from mild depression.

Lennon 5 Did well enough but didn't change the game. Disappointing.

Harry moaned about the pitch saying it was not good for passing on, which seemed to affect Thud more than anyone, else.
If he's going to play like that every time there's a bumpy surface then perhaps we should not play him Nov-Feb. Don't get me wrong I think he's on his way to being class. But he can really be a f*ckin pansy sometimes

Yep i did consume mucho booze in the bar, and after 20 minutes found myself on the dog getting a couple of women to join me, it made it much more palatable.

Just spent ten minutes writing some supposedly entertaining guff only for it to disappear. Aside from the fact that you haven't missed much, does anyone know how to program a computer to destroy the internet?

Cheers,

(bet this goes through without a hitch)

I do know how to destroy a computer though. Surf the net looking for "nudey" sites with no anti-virus protection and it will surely crash! Guaranteed!

Hope this was of help to you.

Deck the halls with boughs of holly, tra la la la la la la la la.

The most significant aspect of last nights jamboree was the appearance of the lost generation i,e, members of the youth & reserve team.

Our inability to develop our own players has been one of the unspoken scandals of the last 10 years. Young Mr O'Hara may not be a world beater, but he is a decent player and would be plying his trade down at the Den only for the fact that someone had the gonads to actually give him a game. It appears that the man masquerading as the real Harry does have the minerals to give these kids a run - Praise the Lord.

Dire game, dire performance. I did think Gomes did ok as he caught everything in the air, so a positive there, coupled with the newbies. Our midfield though looks pants. JJ, Thud & Modric gives us a nice balance but if any of them are out we look short of ideas and solidity. I also didn't like the 'Bentley for the free role' plan, we lacked any width. We did keep a clean sheet away from home and won so I'll be fairly happy if we keep that up (although we won't play many teams that poor for a while). Their RW looked ok and I thought the young Dane (no. 10) looked a cut above the rest of their team, young Davids was ok.

Agree with Ginge1. Passing was abysmal - dont't want to see the pass completion stats. Putting out 6/7 of the second team certainly showed. Even taking the second rate pitch into account, there was no reason why Bentley's corners and free kicks hould have been so crap. Than God NEC's passing was worse than ours.

Preach it, brotherman.

We have the worst away kit in the Premiership. Discuss. Show your workings.

*NB: Comparisons to Stoke City's ironic Brazil kit will not be considered.

Apparently if you google Google it destroys the internet and the world.

I enjoyed seeing Gomes and Dawson play well and the youngsters come on and thought it was a job well done. I'm more concerned about the Evertonians as I cant face going back into the relegation zone. Like solitary confinement another week in there could break me.

All our kits are sh*te. We need to give Puma the boot.

I read the other day that due to a lack of availability the black third shirt is going on ebay for as much as £70. MADNESS. It's just a big advert for a football boot. Nothing to do with the traditions of spurs.

I say bring back umbro. Home; white shirt, blue shorts, white socks (no f*ckin' hoops). Away; all yellow.

I've never liked that andy pandy blue strip, dont know where we got it from, I'd like all white for home and all navy blue for away, & then multi cockerel colours for the 3rd strip.

Fair appraisal Ginge1, there was the rare odd flash of brilliance, but sub par. Thought Gunter deserved a 7, brilliant last ditch tackle after Gomes's fine save. It is nice to see a 1st & 2nd team differential emerging, couldnt see that under Wendy.

Its not the design that is the problem...its that horrible stuff this years kit is made of (that stretchy stuff that you constantly catch your nails on ;) )
Last years was great, especially after the thomson spandex clingy thing, that one should have come with a free sports bra to hide my moobs!

Firsty hats off to the photographer who took this shot LINK brilliant! JoH looks like he's been told to politely cross his legs or else. Now the replies:

1. Light blue kit is indeed 'orrible. Putrid, pukey, cheap and nasty. the kind of thing that, if it didn;t have a spurs logo on it, would've been classified as 'bastard wear' when I was a kid. I was looking for the black and gold 3rd kit for me and my little un, but its disappeared off the spurs shop site! I read another article that this is the most popular 3rd kit ever and because the muppets who ordered the kits didn't order any more than the initial stock, it appears that any newish 3rd kits are going for an average of around £300 each on ebay! Perhaps we can ask them to stop prodction of the away kit and get them to feckin start making the 3rd kit again. (PS I will buy the home kit if I have to/can afford to as well, but I'm still not keen on the whole poker and casino thing on it for the baby).

Aside: Nun, Isaw Hull's away/3rd kit the other day watching them play Stoke (addicted to the game? :? perhaps) anyway it had no sponsor and looked brilliant - has theirs done a Wet Spam? Have we got anyone lined up to replace Mansion yet?

2. Ginge et al, I agree wholeheartedly that Bentley currently does absolutely no good in the free role. He has no pace, barely tracks back or drops deep to grease the wheels, makes little 'play' as playmakers are supposed to. I believe that perhaps he maybe relatively simple and not due to soon get any degrees other than that on a thermometer. I like him best when he has someone making runs for him on the outside (Hutton, Gunter, and the loping Charlie) and then delivers a pin point cross. But even the crosses/set pieces aren't working. Have we got a maintenance plan or even a valid manufacturers warranty?

3. Arsewipe Wenger, check out our average player age...this is really what it means to be playing the kids!

shocking performance by a large portion of our boys.even though most say gomes was good,he still palmed an easy save straight out into the danger zone and i can remember him trying to catch an easy shot that he once again let slip from his grasp, tut tut,his mistakes are coming week in week out and it aint good enough.next on my bitching radar is bale, whats wrong with the boy,he has gone from looking mighty tasty to pretty average and i cant figure it out,but i still think he will come good once given a stable position.bentley is next on the hit list, average, average, average, and is doing little to convince me otherwise, where has his pace gone?or did he ever have any?.he could have a 3-4 yard advantage on a defender and they can still get back to stop him,not that they really need to stop him as he does pretty much nothing anyway even when in a good position.zokora????????????get rid.and for my main bitch its bent, and its not just on this performance, its pretty much the fact that he can be called a footballer.he is average at best.the only way bent will score goals is when a ball is played from back to front that he can run onto and slot home, thats it,he doesent have to think, and thats what he needs.he has nothing else to his game, rubbish first touch, rubbish headerer, rubbish dribbler, rubbish vision, rubbish hold up play, and 90% of his shots are, well rubbish.the key to most top strikers (and a fairly basic skill for most) is the ability to knock a ball to one side of a defender to get a yard of space and in one action shoot, whereas bent knocks a ball to one side then does what can only be described as a little jig where he takes ten tiny steps to cover a yard of ground then scuffs his shot, rubbish.i have resigned myself to the fact that as long as we persist with idiots like bent and zokora we are just going to be another average team, you guys may not agree but thats my opinion.
