Romani Ite Domum!

Julius Caesar's Yellow and Red Army!

A faction of this mob still carry spears and shields.

The Roma Ultras history is steeped on non pitch related activity dating back to 1979 AD when one Vincenzo Paparelli was killed when a Roma fan, from the opposite end of their 82,656 seater stadium, hit him bang in the eye with a flare.

So if you think you're safe in the East Stand today, think again.

These sometime extra paramilitary right wing nutters also spread (thankfully false) rumours before a game in 2003 that the police had killed a child - the match was suspended as a result.

So welcome then to another family day of friendly football here in glorious N17. A postcode today filled with happiness, sunshine and laughter.

I'm sure today will be all about playing the ball and not the man, woman or children. Hahahaha. Word is they haven't taken up all their allocation anyway. Let's just hope the ones that did didn't come via Canning Town scoring Bren guns.

This will be an interesting game and once the getting to know you of the opening exchanges are done, much emphasis will be upon Tottenham's defence and how it copes with the better than half decent attacking midfield and strikeforce of the Italians.

For our part, this will be no better occasion for Bent to show he can do it not just against Delia's lot but a real European outfit. And that will stem from what we can generate in our brand new midfield. Spur's possession percentages in the recent reseason games has been impressive. We rarely retained as much of the ball last season. If you want to beat a team like the Giallorossi and we're eminantly capable of doing so, the answer is to keep them off the damn ball. Go figure.

Hopes for today? Well firstly whatever the score we give every yet another indication that we're genuinely on the up. That's competent defending, assertive goalkeeping, inventive passing and with any luck some memorable goals.

Secondly, Berbatov. This, my fine feathered friend, is a perfect opportunity in front of a sellout crowd to show us what you want. Your desire must match that of Bentley, Huddlestone and O'Hara. So take a tip. Stop just showing up - and do what you do best - show off.

Lastly, let's hope that the only flares on display are on one of those stalls by Seven Sisters tube.

Berbatov's one last chance to show us what he is willing to do, because we already know what he can do. I think this is his last appearance in a Spurs shirt at white hart lane, so be sure to give him a good send off if you are lucky enough to be there.... the wnaker!
For those that want to watch it it is available through TVANTS. You'll need to download TVANTS software. Then go to website MYP2P.eu, select sports, football, and spurs match . . . then sit back and enjoy!

There are numerous streams available (no direct links on here though, boys & girls, thank you) as per RJ1882.

Spurs TV is showing it and if you're a member there was an email recently offering a free 30 day trial.

Of course my code didn't work and I understand lots of people's didn't.

THFC are worse than sh*te at dealing with ANY enquiries so the likelyhood of anyone watching the game on the trial today is less than tiny.

Ha. There is no code of conduct mate, rather an allergy to being accused of promoting what are essentially illeagal broadcasts.

Many forums (not just Spurs one) ban on sight anyone putting direct links up. I don't know what the reality of being prosecuted etc is but who wants to find out? Not me. =D

Dont injure any of the strikers/attackers. It might tempt Fergie to get his wallet out!

Song for Berba

Grey skies are gonna clear up, put on a happy face
Wipe off the clouds and cheer up, put on a happy face
Take off that gloomy mask of tragedy - it's not your style
You'd look so good that you'd be glad that you decided to smile

Pick out a pleasant outlook, stick out that nobel chin
Wipe off that full-of-doubt look, slap on a happy grin
Spread sunshine all over the place
And just put on a happy, put on a happy,
Put on a happy face.

How can the cheeky chap fail to grin... :D

just wanted to get some thoughts on the most important signing of the summer. sky or setanta? Skys more expensive, Setanta has that nasty yellow/black colour scheme. Sky have SSN and Geoegie Thompson, Setanta have UFC but Steve Claridge, what to do????????

lee i have both setanta and sky, and at the moment im liking setanta sports news, they are quicker on breaking news for eg we wone gold today and with in seconds it was running along the breaking news bar on setanta! sky didnt bother? as they do not have the rights to the games (nor do setanta) they deem it a less meaning sport??? also setanta run a txt column at the foot of the page for fans to txt in and now there are a couple of fit sorts now appearing on set sports news

3-0 to Spurs, half-time.

First goal was Bentley free-kick. Poor defending allowed bal to go straight into Roma net.

Second was by Bent, following long Gomes kick and defensive error. Bent took it very well.

Third was Bentley again, following another defensive error. Ball fell to Bentley, who moved at speed toward the Roam goal and hit a great shot.

Gomes has made a couple of good saves. Haven't seen all the broadcast so far, so assessment patchy.

Spurs are becoming adept at taking their opportunities when presented with them. I'd like to see a goal from open play wilfully designed and intended, without the assistance of faulty defending, but they all count, so I'm not quibbling.

Much congratulatory mobbing and back-slapping among the team at the goals. Berbatov a notable absence from that, from the minutes I saw.

5-0. Bent. Fine corner from Bentley. Simple tap-in for Bent.

Zokora doing well at right back.

Gio unselfishishly gave ball to Lennon for fourth goal.

Another fine move nearly enabled Bent to get number 6, with Gio again passing unselfishly.

This, my friends, is a team

Handbags between Zokora and Cassetti. Not Didier's finest moment after a late tackle, but maybe words were said. Gunter replaces him.
