Unbeaten in the league, two champions league final appearances and a FA Cup win. Oh yes sack Rafa now. Don’t get me wrong, at times Rafael Benitez frustrates me with his selections and I just can’t understand why Crouch isn’t playing that often, but give the guy a break.
You can’t achieve success over night and you can’t win a league over night. Now people will say "oh Chelsea did it," but think back a few years previous Mourinhio, where were Chelsea? I rest my case. Now I know that seems irrelevant, but Liverpool are a big club, and personally I don’t think Chelsea are, I class Chelsea as lucky because they got investment at the right time. Before Ambromvich and his cheque book, they wasn’t that well known. However, I’m not here to talk about Chelsea, I’m here to talk about Rafa. Rafa’s rotation seems to get mentioned every other day, with some half-witted person thinking they could run the club better and that Rafa should be sacked. What the hell? This man as brought faith back into a sleeping giant.
For the first time since Dalglish was the boss, there is real belief that we could win the holy grail, the premiership. We’re unbeaten in the league, and even though Europe isn’t looking that good at the moment, there is that belief we will get into the last 16. I know Rafa’s fiddling with the team as lost us some points, but at the same time, it as got us a lot more. Take the Everton game for instance. When Rafa took Gerrard off, everyone was like, "is this man on drugs?", no he just had common sense. Replacing Gerrard with Lucas, was a genius move, and what did we get from it? Three points and a win over our rivals. Instead of mouthing off now, why don’t we wait and see what May brings. Now we might win nothing, or we might win the lot, who knows? All I do know is that people should just shut up and let Rafa do his rotating because at the end of that day, this is the man who brought us back from the brink of a 3-0 thrashing to win the champions league.
