New Caledonia champions AS Mont Dore have recorded a morale boosting 2-0 victory over arch-rivals AS Magenta following the sacking of embattled coach Francois Tartas.
Tartas has been replaced - after three defeats against USC, Lossi, and Auckland City - by Christophe Oiremoin who helped found the AS Mont Dore club in 1999. Oiremoin is joined by Fabrice Mandauoe from Nantes FC in France. Tartas had replaced championship winning coach Jean-Paul Salvatore.
The 2-0 win gives AS Mont Dore the perfect boost ahead of their tough Group A O-League matches with Auckland City and Waitakere United later this month and puts the defending champions le championnat de division d'honneur campaign back on track. The Papua New Guinea Football Association (PNGFA) have decided to increase the number of girls in the training squad in preparation for the women's World Cup qualifiers in April.
After reviewing and assessing the players who are currently in the squad with the assistance of OFC women's development officer Connie Selby, PNGFA through their technical chairman Joe Turia, have decided to increase the number of players in the train-on squad.
He said the additional players had been identified and their addition has bolstered the resources available ahead of April's tournament.
The plans are to have training camps in Port Moresby and a a two-week tour of Brisbane, Australia, in March before the April tournament.
A training session will take place at Sir John Guise stadium for players based in Port Moresby.

More time is needed to prepare a winning team says Solomon Mamula assistant coach Jacob Moli upon their arrival on Tuesday at Honiara International airport.
"Our campaign has been hampered by the limited preparation we had before the tournament. Had the team prepare say for six months and players get more international matches we should be in good stead at the tournament," he adds.
Moli described the match against New Zealand and Vanuatu as give-away.

The service of Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) comes to be improved by the arrival of a technical adviser. He is Yvon Avry, a French born citizen, who was assigned by the OFC to provide technical assistance to VFF on a 4 year mission. Mr. Avry's presence in Vanuatu is through the partnership between the VFF and the OFC.
Yvon Avry commenced his new responsibility at the VFF during mid January. VFF president, Mr. Jacques Tronquet has warmly welcomed Avry's assignment in Vanuatu while explaining that this assistance goes to accelerate the process of the promotion of football in the entire Vanuatu archipelago.
