BILIKIKI BOYS OPT FOR EXPERIENCE

Monday, 17 March 08, 09:33 AM

HONIARA - Solomon Islands beach soccer bosses have opted for experience after naming seventeen players in its train-on squad for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup - Marseille 2008.

Samson Takayama, Gideon Omokirio, Fred Hale, Eddie Ngaitin, Joe Luwi, Gibson Hosea, John Morgan, Junior Eke, George Kwanai and James Naka form a solid core of players with previous FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup experience.

Naka, in particular, has established a reputation on the world stage as a deadly goalscorer and Bilikiki Boys success will depend largely on whether the diminiutive Kossa FC player can replicate the form he has shown of late in the DJ Graphics Beach Soccer "Road to France" Cup at DC Park on the outskirts of Honiara.

Naka is backed up by two defensive lynchpins in Gideon Omokirio and Samson Takayama both of whom play for the senior international team and Kossa FC in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) O-League.

Joe Luwi - Naka's amiable strike partner for club and country - is another player who has graced the sands of Rio de Janiero more than once and is likely to find himself a crucial source of goals.

Seven were picked from the recent DJ Graphics sponsored competition at the DC Park.

This will be the third time that Solomon Islands has played at a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup following on from appearances in Rio de Janeiro in 2006 and 2007.

Bilikiki team manager Reuben Oimae says training for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup - Marseille 2008 will take place on Monday evenings from 16H00hrs.

"It is very good that we have a better facility to train at with DC Park. Where we used to train (at AI Park) is not ideal for preparing to play in a FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup and the Bilikiki Boys owe a lot to the support of DJ Graphics.

DJ Graphics has helped establish a beach soccer venue and local competition that is fast developing in its popularity and this can only be good for this form of football in our country," a Bilikiki Boys team spokesman told www.oceaniafootball.com

DJ Graphics has established a four team local competition called DJ Graphics "Road to France" Cup with potential Bilikiki Boys squad members divided up into teams that play in a league format before finishing off with a play-off series.

DJ Graphics: Proud sponsors of the DJ League in Solomon Islands

BILIKIKI BOYS TRAIN-ON SQUAD:

Gideon Omokirio, James Naka, Fred Hale, Samson Takayama, Eddie Ngaitin, George Kwanai, Joe Luwi, Gibson Hosea, John Morgan and Junior Eke. The new players are; Nicholas Muri, Michael Taeman, Henry Padaverana, Hickley Rence, Franco Ne’e, Augustine Anisi, and Gabriel Ramo.

What are you talking about Mr. NOway? Can you recall the last OFC match between Solo and Vanuatu? Please get your facts right, which real competition are you talking about? You must be dreaming NOway! NOway will Vanuatu beat Solo in any competitive competition...the result of the last OFC under 23 Qualifying tournament speaks for itself. Solo is the best!!

Ke zaur nafu na! bae NOway sote go moa ia.. Well, no matter how much you dont like Solo, Solo will always be the best when it comes to real competitions,...Outdoor soccer, futsal, beach soccer and in every category. Yes, for beach soccer, this will be our third time in a row to compete in a world cup soccer competition. Our players have had the real opportunity playing against some great football players and great nations in the world such as Brazil. It was only unfortunate that in the last beach soccer World Cup, we were pooled with the two eventual winners, otherwise Solo would have made a big history by reaching the final. I pity for Vanuatu, you boost about them but they never played at any highest soccer level like Solo. No wonder we are the best, and will always be the best!....GO SOLO GO!

Thanks nelnaopu for looking at NOway's comments in a positive perspective,,,. However, I still maintain that his comments should be researched before coming into this site. Information is a very powerful tool hence the wrong information supplied by NOway ought to be corrected. By the way thanks NOway for wishing the Bilikiki boys good luck!

bilikiki leana hola! for those of you who do not know "bilikiki'... bilikiki is a beach bird, that usually lands on the beach. it enjoys being chased by breaking waves that rolls up the beach and as it runs from the breaking waves, it dances by shaking its tails from left to right, up and down. this bird is truly a king of the beach. "bilikiki" is derived from a western province dialect and a common dance titled "bilikiki leana hola", meaning bilikiki, i'm fine is a great dance to join in during festivals and celebrations... i wonder the bilikiki team sings the dance song everytime they triumph?

Good one Bilikikifan,,, Can the Bilikiki Management make some comment please. Mi tu laek save if oketa Bilikiki boyz save sing and dance taem ota win? If they cant sing it, then ask Eddie Ngava to teach them the song and dance. I am sure my fren Takayama can assist in teaching the song and dance. They did at the Carol nights so whats the fuss about singing and daning when you triumph? Over to you Mr. Oimae, team Manager..

bilikiki team management remains a big question here,,,, siff can we have a change in the team management position? mr. oimae has been the manager for the past three outings, why? or is the siff constitution forbids appointing a new management cos one has to be the manager for at least four world cups in a row before he/she can be replaced. if not, why keep this fat groundsman with no soccer background so long in the management of the bilikiki team? samfala gudwan stap araon nomoa. ke siff ae, yupala narawe moa ia!!!!

mr. bilikikifan raised a good point for debate. we solo people are soccer loving and as much as we want to see our teams succeed in organized OFC tournmanents, we should also look beyond players. players alone cannot contribute to team success, any team has three components, (1) players, (2) management (federation. these three components work side by side and must play their roles actively. they should complement each other. bilikikifan is concern about the management component, i agree and call on siff to explain why mr. oimae has been the team manager for the past three years. some capable people are still around,,,,....try them out! you have advetised the positions of the other team managers, why not the management position of bilikiki? transparency and accountability siff, we need it in order for our teams to be successful on and off the pitch...

Sorry zaur45, I hope you have a wonderful easter celebrations my fren. Now getting back to my point, I think a gud strong team management is important and can make a difference. Officials getting drunk in front of players,,,...what would that portray on poor the players? Talk about discipline and your deeds show the opposite...not gud for mental preparedness..... My call still stands,,,change the management of Bilikiki plis SIFF. We need pipol who are serious and committed and live by examples, not a bunch of tourists fulfilling thier desires in a faraway land during important sports competitions...Solo has had enough of this,,...No wonder we wont excel in sports, we struggle everytime.

Another point,,,,.Can SIFF organize some warm up matches againt other national teams for our Bilikiki team??? I think spectators would love to see some real beach soccer actions live at DJ Park. Beach Soccer to me is only a media game, not a live soccer activity. I only read and see in the newspapers and the internet but never had the opportunity to see it played live.
