The player-ART GFX Champions League just finished, with SG-Style winning the final after submitting a fantastic Wesley Sneijder Euro 2008 wallpaper. SG-Style showed great graphics skills throughout the competition, where the entrants tested their gfx skills against each other with both sigs, avas and wallpapers. In the final against Macky17g it was a close race, but in the end SG-Style came out on top. Here’s an exclusive interview with the winner!
Name: We are two brothers, Koen and Luuk.
Age: Koen is 17 and Luuk is 15
Location: The Netherlands
Favorite team: FC Twente
Favorite players: Jeroen Heubach & Sander Boschker (FC Twente), Wesley Sneijder, Robin van Persie, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Arjen Robben, Rafael van der Vaart, Khalid Boulahrouz, Van der Sar, Orlando Engelaar.
- When did you start making graphics, and why?
At February 22nd 2007 (21:19/9.19pm), my (our) first work was finished. We started because we saw other nice sigs and we wanted to know how they did it, and so we started making graphics.
- What is your favorite graphics style?
The ’SG’-Style, sure! But I also like the Spanish style. I like nice colors and lighting. I also like the old style, and urban style.
- Do you most often make avas, sigs or wallpapers?
Most of my works are signatures, but lately I have made more wallpapers.
- Some people only need a few minutes, and others work on a gfx piece for days. How long does it take you to make one?
That’s very different. Some avatars took me only a few minutes but other works like wallpapers or large pieces took me some hours. Most of the latest sigs took me about 1-2 hours.
- What is your favorite gfx piece you have made yourself?
That must come yet. I can’t choose. I like my last Wesley Sneijder wallpaper, and the Arnautovic sig (with the great render). I use it at Player-Art.
- Do you have any favorite artists? (Why is he your favorite?)
I like the ’’old’’ graphics makers like .zx3001, Nithael, herbul, onskin etc. They were also active on Player-Art.
- Who/what has helped you the most to become a great designer?
We helped each other a lot. And also the great resources and tutorials at Player-Art. We learned a lot from the good comments, thanks for that!
- How did you hear about PA?
Koen found it at google search. I thought it is a great site! So we have joined.
- How long have you been a PA member? What do you think about the site and the community?
I joined at 05- 19- 2007, so that’s one year, 2 months and 7 days. (Now it’s July 28th). I think it’s a great site. The new forum style is very different. I like the people, they are very kind. The resources and other help is very good.
- Do you have any tips for other designers that want to become as good as you?
If you want to be good, then you have to practice a lot. And stay active at PA, give the other guys constructive comments and then you will improve a lot.
SG-Style’s winning piece and their other works can be found in their portfolio here, on OleOle or in SG.
Winning piece of the PA CL.
