Asamoah injury blow for Rennes

Stade Rennais FC striker Gyan Asamoah will miss the second leg of his side's UEFA Cup second qualifying round tie against Stabæk IF after picking up a thigh injury.

The Ghanaian international tore his thigh muscle a few minutes after coming on in during Rennes' 2-1 league win against LOSC Lille Métropole on Sunday. Asamoah, who joined Rennes from Udinese Calcio this summer and has appeared in three games for his new club, will undergo further tests on Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury. Rennes trail Stabæk 2-1 ahead of the second leg at the Route de Lorient stadium on Thursday.
