My last post on this Copa America couldn't illustrate better what I've
been saying all this time: "football is a game full of surprises in
which the best team DOES NOT always win". "a game can be decided in
favor of the team that shows more passion"
Well, Argentina certainly had the best team if we analyze it on the
paper BUT, and in football there's always the "BUT" element, Brazil
was disciplined and won showing not only quality, talent but also a
lot of efficiency.
A lot of Argentines (and their simpathyzers) here on OLEOLE will
definetly say it was not fair. Argentina won all their previous games,
they score more goals, the suffered less goals BUT (once again BUT)
when Brazil and Argentina play everything they showed earlier in the
competition couldn't matter less. It's a whole diferent story.
I believe that if Mexico had made to the finals, they would've had a
better chance to beat Brazil than Argentina.
Brazil players seem to incorporate all the nation's spirit when they
face the "albiceleste".
And the main fact is: Brazil played a perfect game.
Argentina had in fact one, ONE, UMA, UNA, and only ONE great
opportunity in the whole game when Riquelme took a shot from outside
the box and Doni proved me wrong, after all my critiscism towards him,
and saved a clear goal chance.
The rest of the game, which was 1 x 0 already for Brazil, was totally
contolled by the young guys in yellow.
Brazil studied Argentina's style. They knew that to beat such a great
mifield and offense they would have to individually mark Riquelme,
Messi and Tevez. And they did. Did you guys notice Mineiro on the
field??? Well, I did. He didn't give Riquelme not even one inch to
breath.
And besides being so disciplined deffensevely, Brazil's offense show
great efficiency. If the game had finished 1 x 0 for Brazil I would
understand (and accept) any complaints from Argentina's fans. But with
a 3 x 0 score, what is left to say? Brazil played very well, when they
were supposed to.
Congratulations to these group of talented, passionate and, MANY TIMES,
undervalued team.
...::: a song to celebrate :::... (the one my Brazilian friends hould
be sing to the Argies now)
VOU FESTEJAR (Beth Carvalho)
Chora... Nao vou ligar,
Chegou a hora
Vai me pagar
Pode chorar, pode chorar
Eh o teu castigo
Brincou comigo
Sem ter por que
Vou Festejar (vou festejar)
O teu sofrer
O teu penar
Voce pagou com traicao
A quem sempre lhe deu a mao
Voce pagou com traicao
A quem sempre lhe deu a mao

Juan: Team Captain, the best of the match in my
opinion. No room for Messi
...and when he tried to go back to midfield to
get the ball, Mineiro said "NOT HERE KIDDO"
Riquelme was probably
thinking "if only I had been born Brazilian..."
