Mexico almost made it again, this time, stopped at the quarterfinals. This line would sound like deja vu if you lived the Era where Mexico was able to pass
for the second time to the quarterfinals of the World Cup in 1986, held in their own territory. However, this time, the details are different: Mexico's Sub-20 division made it to the Quarterfinals in
the Sub-20's World Cup held in Canada. The similarities? The team was stopped by a team with world recognition (in 1986 was Germany and this 2007 by Argentina) only because they were able to
score on the mistakes that were made by the Mexican Squad. Although Mexico went all the way to the penalties in 1986, the mistakes were that they missed their shots while Germany made the best of
them and were able to score, making it to the finals [note: Germany reached 2nd place of the Tournament,,,,hmm,,,, has Mexico lost to a 2nd place team recently?] Mexico's Sub-20 Division lost only
because of a single mistake that cost them the ticket to the next round to the Semifinals of the World Cup. The awful pass after a throw-in was awarded to Mexico made Argentina charge
and steal the ball close to the box of Mexico's goal. Once in the zone, it was either do or die and the word TIRA! were in the mouths of every Argentinian fan that were
watching the game. The kick was detoured by the leg of the Mexican Defender and if it wouldn't be - that shot could have been stopped. That did not happen. Argentina was able
to capitalize on that mistake, keeping Mexico out of their zone and keeping them away from the goal to that could have change history. Once the game finished, the heat started to cool off and reality
set in - Mexico had lost the game. Although Argentina won, they had to suffer for the score to stay the same for the rest of the game and not let Mexico in anymore - something that never used to
happen in Mexico's soccer history. The Era "Ya Merito" [So Close!] for El Tri lives on but it is undeniable that this Era is vanishing and Mexico is getting much closer to the gold, to becoming
another great team in this continent. Argentina and Brazil, watch out, Mexico is on their way to the top. The Sleeping Giant is waking up.
