OFC Nations Cup/XIII South Pacific Games

OFC NATIONS CUP/WORLD CUP QUALIFYING TOURNAMENT IN CONJUNCTION WITH XIII SOUTH PACIFIC GAMES - SAMOA 2007

The next OFC Nations Cup will double as a FIFA World Cup – South Africa 2010 qualifying tournament and will begin with the XIII South Pacific Games football competition.

The tournament will be hosted at J.S.Blatter Playing Complex, Apia, Samoa, featuring 19 teams from eleven countries in both men's and women's football.

Group A features Fiji, Cook Islands, New Caledonia, Tahit and OFC associate member, Tuvalu. Group B will be no less competitive with American Samoa, Solomon Islands, Samoa, Tonga and Vanuatu vying for a semi-final spot and a shot at a medal match and qualification for Stage Two of Oceania's FIFA World Cup qualifying competition.

The top three teams will progress to stage two and join New Zealand in a round-robin home and away mini-league competition. The draw for this stage was made at a press conference in Suva, Fiji, with New Zealand beginning their FIFA World Cup quest against the South Pacific Games bronze medallists.

The winner of stage two will be crowned OFC Nations Cup winners not only qualifying for FIFA Confederations Cup - South Africa 2009 but earning progress to a home and away playoff against the 5 th placed team in the Asian Football Confederation for a slot at the FIFA World Cup – South Africa 2010.
