Manchester United Football Club

Founded in 1878 as Newton Heath L&YR FC, Manchester United Football Club is one of the most successful and popular English football clubs, boasting 330 million fans and the highest revenue of any club in the world. Playing at the top division of English football – the Barclay's Premier League, Manchester United FC has won the league title nine times since 1993 and is the current reigning champions. The club plays in the Old Trafford Stadium in Greater Manchester, and is currently captained by fullback Gary Neville. Manchester United has been managed by Sir Alex Ferguson since 1986 and was returned to private holding by Malcom Glazer in 2005. In 1999 Man U won the Premiership, the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League, becoming the first English team to capture "The Treble". The club's home kit consists of a red jersey, white shorts and black socks, with an away kit of black jerseys, black shorts and black socks. The Manchester United crest combines the ship from the city of Manchester crest and a red devil holding a trident to represent the club's nickname, the "Red Devils". Manchester United FC were also winners of the 1999 European Cup, the 1999 Intercontinental Club Cup, the 1991 European Cup-Winners Cup, the 1992 and 2006 League Cup and are 11-time winners of the FA Cup.
