El club fue fundado el 25 de mayo de 1901 en el barrio de La Boca. Luego se mudó al barrio de Palermo, donde tenía su propio estadio, pero con el correr de los años el club creció en popularidad y tuvo que irse en 1938 al barrio de Belgrano, en especial el Estadio Monumental Antonio Vespucio Liberti barrio de Nuñez.
