A.S. Roma was founded in the summer of 1927 by Italo Fosh, when he merged three football clubs into one so that Rome would be able to compete against teams from the northern part of Italy. AS Roma FC has played at Stadio Olimpico since 1929. The best decades for the organization were during the seventies, eighties, nineties, and 2000s. The 90s saw the emergence of Francesco Totti as their captain and all time lead scorer. The team's poorest performance was during the thirties and forties, when they only won one title. Recently, AS Rome reached in the quarter finals of the Champions League and second place in Serie A.

AS Roma FC has certain songs that are sung during almost every game. These songs include: their anthem La Roma non si discute, si ama, which in English means Rome is not discussed it is loved, Grazie Roma, and The White Striper's Seven Nation Army. The two Italian songs were composed by local singer Antonello Venditti.
