2010 FIFA WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA - VANUATU V NEW CALEDONIA PHOTO GALLERY

Monday, 23 June 08, 01:05 PM

NOUMEA - New Caledonia beat Vanuatu 3-0 at Stade Numa Daly over the weekend as both nations sought to bolster their respective 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™/OFC Nations Cup 2008 campaigns.

The win preserves New Caledonia's unbeaten record and means they must win their  two remaining matches against New Zealand to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

New Zealand has three wins from three matches and one more victory will be enough to propel Ricki Herbert's charges into a two-legged play-off with the fifth placed team in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for a place at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ and FIFA Confederations Cup - South Africa 2009 as winners of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Nations Cup 2008.

Vanuatu remain winless after four matches with only the solitary point gained from their earlier draw with New Caledonia.

    Seriously needs a clean up.

Also coaches Herromanley & Calvo Out - Have they ever kicked a ball??

    Go and research Guus
Hiddinks history then you will know who to select as coach!!

VFF seriously need to look into changes. PNG is coming up and have shown improvements in the U-23. Watch out for the wantok cup next month. As for vatu, we gotta do something if we don't wanna be
alongside our friends, tuvalu and samoa.

I would like to congratulate the Vanuatu Team, even though they lost against New Caledonia they don't deserve same of the comments made in this forum. Vanuatu has played almost the entire game
(80 mns) with only 10 Players and When New Caledonia scored their first Goal Vanuatu had only 9 players on the pitch after one of the Vanuatu Player was hardly injured ( broken Leg ). Vanuatu has
displayed a good performance in the 10 first mns with few scoring opportunities but they were depraved by the Referee when he unjustly sent-off a Vanuatu defender only after 10 mns.

From what I have seen in the first Leg I have to congratulate the coaching team and the players for their efforts, I was a great football performance, with good football display and I must admit
that I haven't seen Vanuatu playing like they did with New Caledonia before, it shows that Vanuatu is improving, despite lack of resources they have compare to New Caledonia, New Zealand and
    Fiji.

hey, bradas from vatu, thats not a defeat, look at it as a challenge that the whole team should work on...every challenge is a stepping stone to do better next time, everybody learns that way...
you do your best in he field and thats enough
to all the vatu's who say negetive comments about this game..you better put yourself in the teams shoe and stop making silly comments.. these boys
need support in bad times and in good times..remember one kind word or gesture means something.
vatu team, you play great..work on things that you need to correct and show these negative minds
    that they are wrong.
    cheers, see you in Honiara

Footvan.........wake up. The game is a qualifier. Its the result that matters.

And stop pretending that things are ok with Vanuatu Football. The poor performances and results indicate that
    something is not right.

Our boys do not need one (1) win but rather a pattern of winning..............then they'll do us proud.

Footvan, as lekwik rightly pointed out, this is a qualifier and our ranking is at stake here. Excuses as we are 10 man down is not a good excuse because coaches need to have contigency plans for
    such situations. What happened?

People like Calvo, Marcelino (Futsal), Ps William Malas, Marco H please leave those positions gracefully before you bring total embarasement to Vanuatu
Soccer. We need consistency and not ad hoc good results.

VFF, be transparent and be more accountable in your approaches to your responsibilities. Probably get another foreign coach and let
him do his job. Inaf blong stap dipen long tingting blong sam man nomo olsem Calvo.

just thought id drop by and share some ideas..
is there a financial statement or any development plans from the VFF??
if not then we all share the same problem....SIFF has
not been honest with its transactions and thats why they have been under fire from the public prior to the U23 olympic qualifiers...

i think that the football federations should be more
honest and reveal information such as financial transactions, budgets and develpoment goals...also, players should be offered more money than the officials and federation members....wat do you
    think?

i think that people are in-it for the money and not for the love of the game!!

Koito, thank you for your concerns, but these are criticisms that each one is entitled to. If you don't want to read it, then don't! If you are really hurt, you must be someone very close to
those (VFF etc..) who think they know more but infact are degrading Vanuatu through the results.

We argue through this forum against other playing countries' supporters because we love
this country and its soccer...and what do we get? poor results. Whether we play soccer or not, we are entitled to our opinions and if you don't like it, you don't have to read it. If you are
really angry, you are in the wrong place mate!

or VFF). We tend to make very subjective comments by calling on the names of people (for example Calvo). Let me ask: how many of us in here (vatu ppl) know who Calvo is? I think we should show a
little bit of respect for him as our head coach. He has done all he could for our country. Further, he must have spend his spend his own time, money, and everything to develop soccer in Vanuatu.
    Please respect him and VFF.

I think VFF is doing a great job. I fully support their work and hope they can do more to develop soccer. I honestly have no suggestion for improvement but wish
with all my heart soccer in Vanuatu will find itself in another level soon.
