2010 FIFA WORLD CUP SOUTH AFRICA™ - VANUATU vs NEW CALEDONIA PHOTO GALLERY

Monday, 16 June 08, 10:19 AM

PORT VILA - Vanuatu and New Caledonia fought out a 1-1 stalemate in Port Vila at the weekend as both nations sought to bolster their respective 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™/OFC Nations Cup 2008 campaigns.

The draw preserved New Caledonia's unbeaten record but heaps pressure on coach Didier Chambaron and his team with two matches to play against New Zealand where nothing less than six points will keep their World Cup hopes alive.

New Zealand has three wins from three matches and one more victory will be enough to propel Ricki Herbert's charges into a two-legged play-off with the fifth placed team in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for a place at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ and FIFA Confederations Cup - South Africa 2009 as winners of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Nations Cup 2008.

Vanuatu remain winless after three matches but the draw is enough to lift them one spot in the table above Fiji.

Yes it is a great play. But please try to win the matches. A draw against each other means giving away the game to NEW Zealand.
Try to win or else NEW Zealand will represent the oceania again.

Vanuatu no try for disturbim ol barata lo NC moa. If U like win u mas winim evri game, if u no save win then givim NC takem game yea.

Van still does not have that winning mentality in nearly all sports. I do not know what their coaches teach them about. Winning is a very important part of sports. It tells a lot of things about
a team, determination, physical fitness, mental strength, tactic, etc, etc.
I think we still have a long way to go,,,,but we'll get there. The 'Q' is when??

    That's right lekwik,
Vanuatu never goes further..They won the solomon team and then stuck again along the way..
Can't we stop doing that..We must keep winning untill the end..

    ladies,
    dont blame the mentality!!!
from da perfomance i would give vanuatu high praises..

if you read the article on the game, vanuatu equalized just a couple of minutes..so wat

does that tell you about the mentality?? its there..

wat you guys should consider is that new caledonia is a very hard team to beat!! they have had a good build up towards this

    competion..even before the SPG!!

wat vanuatu needs is exposure!! that can only be achieved when you guys play better teams...experiencing different styles and situations...

    this

comes down to one factor!!! money!!!

    more funding...more games...more exposure...more experience...more wins!!!!

the FIFA ranking depends on how many games you play...the

more games you play the more points you get!!
so, OFC teams should be playing more regional tournaments and oraginizing more

mark my words: they'll never make it. World cup will always go to NZ, futsal/beach soccer will always go to Solo or other countries. acha?

guTTi_maMa you also have valid points

    more funding...more games...more exposure...more experience...more wins!!!

But if you look at it closely, some of our boyz have been there for
quite a while, they have been country reps in international and regional friendlies and qualifiers,,,,,,,,,,they are reps for our champion clubs for some time, i am talking about periods of more
than 5 years, for sure something has to come out of that,............

I believe in a good coach and mentor and coach that would turn things around. See what happens when carlos buzzetti
was our coach.........we could go into a game with confidence and be >60% sure the game is ours. Also our winning streak was remarkable. VFF needs to ask FIFA for another coach who would make
things happen. Our local coaches can be supporting him if not learning from him.
