Solomon Islands trio Abraham Iniga (left)has joined injured duo Jack Samani and Tinoni Ratu on the injury scrap-heap for the XIII South Pacific Games - Samoa 2007 Men's Football Tournament.
Ratu received a knock in the 4-2 win against Gold Coast champion’s Burleigh Heads and was confirmed by team physio Chris Laore to be serious. He will have to rest it for time, which ruled him out of the Samoa campaign.
Former Marist FC and PRK Souths striker Iniga injured himself in training during Solomon Islands tour of Australia and has not fully recovered when they toured Australia recently.George Aba has been recalled replace Iniga while Tome Faisi is being drafted in to replace Jack Samani.
Samani was injured when Solomon Islands defeated Solympics (U-23 national team)in a friendly and was unable to travel to the team in their Australian tour.Samani underwent rehabilitation in Honiara in the hope that he would be fit when the team returned from Australia but by today, his condition remains questionable and therefore Tome was called in to replace him.
When asked about his inclusion, Tome said he was delighted and would give his best shot at the games. The former Solympic player played a prominent role for his local club and earlier this year was part of the Marist FC team that represented Solomon Islands in the OFC O- League campaign.
Solomon Islands begin their XIII South Pacific Games campaign on Saturday 25th August against Oceania minnows American Samoa at J.S.Blatter Playing Field.
