Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is located at the Charles J. Dempsey Football Academy, Mount Smart Stadium, in Penrose, Auckland, New Zealand. OFC is charged with the task of servicing and administering the game of football in the Oceania region for its eleven member associations.
OFC President/FIFA Vice-President Reynald Temarii was re-elected to office in January 2007, at the OFC Congress in the presence of FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
Reynald Temarii’s vision for Oceania is to raise the overall standard of football and, where possible, utilise the power and passion of football to help promote education, health and development within the football community.
OFC is the smallest of the world’s six Confederations but is an active participant within the FIFA football family with football the most popular sport in many of its member associations particularly in the Solomon Islands.
The OFC offices in Auckland are run under the guidance of OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas who has been involved with Oceania football for ten years.
OFC is committed to helping raise the standard of football throughout the region through its technical programmes run by Jim Selby and includes initiatives such as “Just Play” in Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.
Women’s football has received a boost with OFC Head of Women’s Football Connie Selby – a former Australia women’s international captain – actively running coaching courses throughout Oceania.
OFC has formed several football partnerships with FIFA, Football Federation Australia, The FA, France Football Federation, UEFA, for assistance with technical development in the areas of women’s football, coach, grassroots and referee development.
OFC is proactive in a raft of social initiatives within the Oceania region and has formed partnerships with Secretariat of the Pacific Community, United Nations, European Union, UNESCO, Alliance Francaise, French Government to name but a few.
With the support of FIFA, OFC launched “Football for Life” – a series of friendly football matches between Fiji and a New Zealand XI – designed to raise awareness and funds for the Solomon Islands tsunami relief effort in Western Province and the “Feed Our Vatukoulo Children” campaign in Fiji.
