About Andriy Shevchenko

Andriy Shevchenko has played a key role in every team that he has been associated with. He started his success with his first professional team Dynamo Kiev, where he scored twelve goals in his first season, the most out of any player on the team, deserving the award for Best Newcomer of the Year.

Andriy Shevchenko made AC Milan an elite powerhouse in Europe. He led them to the win the Champions League tournament in 2003 and to the finals of the Seria A. His performance with the team earned him the awards of Ukrainian Footballer of the Year and Serie A Foreign Footballer of the Year. In addition to that it made other teams such as Real Madrid and Chelsea who were looking for a good forward wanting Andriy Shevchenko, to play for them. So in 2006 Andriy Shevchenko joined Chelsea for a fee of 30 million euros. He was quick to establish himself as a leader on that team, scoring the only goal for his team during the FA Community Shield match. Andriy took Chelsea to the semi-finals of the FA Cup that same season. Currently, he is continuing to play for Chelsea and is the captain of the Ukrainian national team.

Andriy Shevchenko - Hero of Ukraine

Andriy Shevchenko has awards and honours not only on for his performance on the pitch, but also for his contribution to the country of Ukraine. The President of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma, awarded him with the “Hero of Ukrainian” award December 31st 2004 for his extraordinary contribution to the development of Ukrainian football. It is one of his most a prestigious awards in the country and is given out only to true heroes of the country for either their heroism or achievement in labor. Since its creation in 1998, only 173 people have received this award.
