David Beckham

David Beckham is one of the world's best known footballers and an England legend. Sometimes known more for his celebrity and good-looks than his football ability, Beckham has nevertheless forged a fine career based on sheer hard-work, professionalism, and dedication to the game. He is known for his incredible ability to strike a ball, and his subsequent brilliance from free-kicks, corners, crosses and long balls. Beckham began his career at Manchester United in the English Premier League, and after a long and successful career there under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson, he moved to Madrid. As another star at Real Madrid, he won the Spanish Primera Division under coach Fabio Capello in 2006/07, before moving to the MLS and LA Galaxy, where he signed a record-breaking 5 year contract worth $250 million USD.

Whilst David Beckham has achieved plenty on the football front, probably the biggest reasons for his fame and popularity have been his model good-looks and celebrity lifestyle. David is married to former Spice Girl, Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham, and theirs was a match made in heaven for the British press, elevating them to the Number 1 celebrity couple in the UK, and arguably the world. He has become a modeling and marketing icon, both for himself and the clubs that he's played for. His move to LA comes as no surprise after a long-standing ambition to break into the celebrity and film world in Hollywood. Beckham's only impact in this regard thus far has been an appearance on an episode of the Simpsons and the subject of the indie film "Bend It Like Beckham".
