As Arseblogger pointed out, perhaps it makes sense to kiss it now, since it might be a year or two before he has the chance to do so after scoring a
goal...
That is very cynical to say. And it also shows a lack of knowledge by Arseblogger. I read his post about Hleb and it doesn't make much sense to me. Hleb is a very versatile player, but in
Arsenal
he was more often used to stop opponents' counter-attacks and to keep the ball at feet. It was required by their style of play. Fabregas is the one who builds all the attacks there (he is
from
Barca after all :-p). Hleb had to sacrifice his talent for the sake of better defense. However he did make some fascinating moves while at Arsenal and IMO was one of the best during last
season
for Londoners. As Barca fan I'm glad of his signing. As for scoring goals however, well it depends on what place on the pitch he plays. If he plays as LW (where Ronaldinho used to play) he
will
get more chances for scoring goals. ......To be continued
But I believe he is to be used in LCM position (Deco's place) where he would probably have the task to run the midfield and set-up the attackers as well as to stop the counter-attacks and help
in
defense. Just like Deco used to 2-3 seasons ago. There would also be a chance for Hleb to score a long-range efforts then. Pity he's not as good as Deco was in that area.
None the less, if a supposed AMC gets in or in front of the box with lots of space he should shoot. Even a CB (Kolo Toure for example) would shoot in that possition. It`s just the way he is.
He
doesn`t want to take the responsibility.
I agree about anyone should shoot when in position, but Hleb didn't have that much space in Arsenal. Barca, on the other hand plays wider and he will have more space to run with the ball and
to
shoot from long range. And I don't agree about responsibility thing. How could anyone know what were Wenger's thoughts. Maybe Hleb's task was to keep the ball and make the passes to Fabregas
who
creates most of Arsenal's attacks anyway!
Depends what you mean by space. If you mean he didnt have half the field free in front of him, you are correct, but if you mean he didn`t have about 4-5 meter`s you are mistaken.
The
responsibility thing was not meant as "what Wenger want`s him to do", but that he does not want to be blamed for the loss, if he misses.
And i sincerely doubt Wenger limits player`s
creativity.
Oh I believe I did see him play. Lots of times. I'm beginning to think that (as all of you are obviously Arsenal fans) you just want to turn your head away from your own problems by
criticizing
Hleb. He was one of your better players in last season and Wenger sold him 'cause he wanted to go to Barca. Now by selling him, Flamini and Gilberto the midfield is much weaker, no matter
what
you "experts" say and Arsene knows it. He'll have to bring in another midfielder (maybe even 2). Or he'll have a lot of problems. Nevermind, this thing isn't going anywhere. We'll just have
to
wait and see how Hleb performs in Barca shirt, won't we?
Hleb was not one of our best players last season* but it is true that we stopped caring as soon as he decided he wanted to leave. You can't make players love a club, and if he wanted to leave
we
weren't going to stop him. Maybe he will do well for Barca, but i have a feeling he won't try very hard now he's there. I think he's kissing his new pay cheque behind that badge, which lets
face
it is why Barca attract so many players. And why they underachieve when they arrive :-P
*For best players of last season read: Flamini, Clichy, Sagna, Adebayor. Not Hleb. And Hleb playing
defense? don't make me laugh. Good luck next season now "the teeth" has gone, maybe you'll see what Henry can do this year too....
Kiss the Badge, means nothing these days, so don't get to upset by it. We fans have to realise that the days of players staying with a team year after year have all gone!
Bullshit! ...kissing the badge will always mean something. You gotta be kidding me saying the days of a player staying year after year has all gone because a few swell headed players made
moves
or want to make moves after having one good season
doubletrouble... i understand where you're coming from, but you might understand that your club, Utd is one of a few for whom players do not leave if the boss doesn't want them to. The
Ronaldo
incident this season is the only time i recall a player almost leaving Utd when the club wanted to keep him, the one time where a Man U player thought he was too good for the team. At the
majority of other clubs this is not the case, and kissing the badge is a very easy way to get fans on your side. Rooney: "Once a blue, always a blue, i'll never leave Everton!"
The way Man U
keep their players together is part of the reason why they've been so succesful, but it's not the same for other clubs, especially when it concerns foreign players.
