Last night LDU - Liga Deportiva Universitaria - from Quito, Ecuador, defeated the Brazilian side of Fluminense in the penalty shootout to win the 2008 Copa Libertadores title and secure the South Amerian spot in the FIFA Club World Cup. Like A Duck in a Thunderstorm - Pato to Milan

07:48 PM, Wednesday, 16 January 2008

Give Alexandre Pato credit. He has said all the right things, he has impressed all the right people and tomorrow he’ll be introducing himself to the rossoneri faithful after almost 5 months in the shadows. The k... And The World Champions Are... Milan

10:22 PM, Thursday, 20 December 2007

Perhaps surprisingly, the FIFA Club World Cup left the best until last, with two magnificent matches to mark the end of the 2007 competition. In the first match, for third place, Urawa Red Diamonds came from a goal down to lead Etoile Sportive De Sahel 2-1, before a horrific goalkeeping error... Football belongs to Kaká (at least until Sunday)

02:03 AM, Tuesday, 18 December 2007

He was the man of the year. I totally agree on the other two Fifa top 3 players, but both the game and the results give Kaká the lead in the top of the 2007 football world. Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi showed very good football during the whole year, very spectacular, but Kaká has got everything. ... Club World Cup: The (lesser teams) Best XI

10:00 PM, Monday, 17 December 2007

There were several interesting games and players at the Club World Cup, so I though I'd put together an XI for the tournament, excluding of course the Milan and Boca players, because they're high profile and everyone knows about them. This team thus features players from Urawa Reds, Sepahan,... Experience goes a long way (Would Maldini, Cafu, Romario, Blanco, Inzaghi or Beckham play on your team??)

12:27 PM, Monday, 17 December 2007

Watching Maldini play I was thinking: maybe there is still some hope for a old guy  - ME - to go back to the pitch after the surgery I went through and still perform using less of speed, strengh, force and more of a type of intelligent and cold-blood that only years of experience can... Is Kaká the best player in world football?

06:29 AM, Monday, 17 December 2007

Watching Milan midfielder Kaká virtually destroy his opponents at the FIFA Club World Cup was a privilege. The Brazilian ace was rightly awarded the Player Of The Tournament for his two outstanding performances against Urawa Reds and Boca Juniors respectively, and it got me thinking about... Let's get this party started!

04:56 AM, Monday, 17 December 2007

AC Milan are the FIFA Club World Champions after they avenged a 2003 Toyota Cup defeat by beating Boca Juniors 4-2 in the final at Yokohama International Stadium. Pippo Inzaghi scored twice, but the star of the show was undoubtedly Kaká, who scored one and set up two in another virtuoso...
