Not a classic. While I didn't think it was as terrible as some have said in the media, it could be that my emotional involvement in the match makes me more exited than a neutral would be. I thought we played ok without being brilliant. We made a few chances and restricted Chelsea to very few.... Some Final Thoughts On Havant & Waterlooville
02:29 PM, Saturday, 02 February 2008
There has been plenty of comment in many different places on the subject of Havant & Waterlooville's FA Cup run, and their performance on Saturday. There are many people more closely involved in what has been going on than I am, but I thought that I would take opportunity to add some... The FA Cup Fourth Round, played out last weekend, was most peculiar. There were sixteen matches played, involving thirty-two clubs, and not a single one was drawn. It was the first time that this had happened in a shade of fifty years. I bet no-one at the BBC saw that one coming.... It's the last weekend in January, and this can only mean one thing. The FA Cup Fourth Round. We're down to the last thirty-two now, and by the time that we've made the last sixteen, at least eight of the clubs involved won't even be from the Premier League, half of whose clubs bit the dust at... On How The BBC Got It So Very Wrong
02:07 PM, Saturday, 02 February 2008
Earlier this week, apropos of nothing, really, I sat down and watched the 1979 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Manchester United. It was like a breath of fresh air, and a reminder of how good the BBC used to be at broadcasting football. I've watched their recent coverage, however, with... Last minute penalties are a killer. I was sickened at the end of the match at Upton Park. We hadn't played brilliantly, but had created some good chances. A draw and shared points probably would have been the fairest result. But the ref could have given us a peno a few minutes earlier when... City FUCup in the FA Cup: Round 4 Round Up
05:28 PM, Monday, 28 January 2008
There were a few upsets in this round of the cup, although 11 of the 20 Premiership sides had already been eliminated in the previous round. Two Premierleague sides went out this time, although only one of them was really an upset. Derby lost 1-4 away to...
