It's a Tough Life sometimes....
06:57 AM, Monday, 01 September 2008
Sitting down typing this blog from the Cathay Pacific Business Lounge at Frankfurt Airport is hardly a tough assignment but it does need to be done. Luckily I have around 2 hours until boarding time for my flight to Singapore. So the good news yesterday, apart from... So no - It wasn't meant to be this year

Perhaps Basel can meet Arsenal in the second round, mmm, that's not going to happen is it? Basel didn't even manage to get an English team but I may get the chance to boo Hleb just for the heck of it at St Jakobs. Basel could struggle as they were beaten rather easily by Sporting... Well Christian Gross has done something he was never likely to achieve with Tottenham, he's made it into the group stages of the Champions League. I was hopeful for the FCB faithful but not sure if they had enough quality or would get that little bit of luck to help them... Though it seems as though all us gooners out there are really, really struggling to find any of them at the moment. The mood seem to be summed up by a comment on an Arsenal message board last night (AWIMB) by a new fan from the USA. I'm not being hard on the lad and if he's a true... You will have had to be fairly impervious to rumour and internet discussion to fail to realise that we've lost another player this week. Out here in Switzerland this is, of course, pretty big news that Philippe Senderos is off to Milan and many here probably are quite happy... The long interview in The Independent by Arsene Wenger really does underline his approach at Arsenal. Even if you recognise the fact that he did, originally, often buy players at significant fees you always knew that he was more comfortable when developing talent rather than... Back home from the match...oh and the demise of TFFO!

If you've read the odd one of my blogs you may have realised that I try to avoid repeating the articles that many other bloggers out there already do quite well. As a result if you're expecting a match report on the WBA game then this the wrong place. Partly this is down to a... Posted by BaselGooner · Comments (1) Topics: Arsenal,Samir Nasri,Basel

as I sit here with a decent bottle of Crozes Hermitage flicking around the channels for a little football, though, to be honest, I only started looking after I finished watching a very good film. If you get the chance (and especially those of you who want to know what life was like... Posted by BaselGooner · Comments (0) Topics: Arsenal,Basel,Liverpool,Manchester City

But I can't help but get fascinated by the golf majors, especially when the European players are doing so well and it takes your mind off the fact Arsenal seem to need to get George Graham, Liam Brady & Michael Thomas out of retirement for our weakened midfield. It... Posted by BaselGooner · Comments (0) Topics: Arsenal,Ivan Campo,Ipswich,Switzerland,Basel
Finally the leagues are starting....if not all

Strangely the Swiss League has been going for over three weeks so far, so it was good to hear about some rather better supported (no offence Axpo Super League) games beginning this weekend. Today saw the start of both Ligue 1 and all of the Football Leagues. So finally the main... Posted by BaselGooner · Comments (0) Topics: Ligue 1,Claude Makelele,Ludovic Giuly,Basel
