Stadium Overview
A quickly assembled stadium, the stadium features little in the way of memorable architecture. Mostly featuring bench seating, the stadium's U-shape holds 22,555. The sideline stands are both two-tiered.
Stadium History
Crew Stadium was quickly built in 1999 after the club learned they were being forced out of their home at Ohio Stadium, home to Ohio State University's American Football team. The eviction turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the Crew ended up exchanging a tight pitch and poor sightlines for America's 2nd "soccer-specific stadium" (Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina being the first).
Throughout the years the stadium has hosted many American national team matches.
In 2007 the owners of the stadium, Hunt Sports Group, annoyed fans by removing the stadium's hallowed North End, home to the most vocal supporters during matches for both club and country.
