Stadium Overview

The Peter Mokaba Stadium is a football (soccer) stadium in Polokwane, South Africa, that will be used for the Football World Cup 2010.

The stadium is one of five new stadiums that will be built for the Football World Cup 2010. Initial plans to upgrade the current Peter Mokaba Stadium were abandoned in favour of the estimated R1.1 bn (ZAR) new Peter Mokaba stadium.



Stadium History

The Peter Mokaba Stadium is situated in Polokwane (Pietersburg), the capital of Limpopo, South Africa. The Polokwane municipality have decided to build a new stadium, confusingly named the "Peter Mokaba Complex", adjacent to the existing Peter Mokaba stadium. The Peter Mokaba stadium is named after Peter Mokaba of the African National Congress, who coined the phrase "Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer" and was an AIDS denialist . Mokaba died at the age of 43 (rumoured to be from AIDS). It will hots various matches for the World Cup 2010 matches and FIFA Confederations Cup.
