Stadium Overview
The layout of the stadium is somewhat chopped and fractured as it has been converted many times throughout the years to fit in various events. The outside of the stadium is unmemorable.
Stadium History
The first of the multi-sport facilities that started popping up throughout the American landscape during the middle of the 20th century, RFK Stadium was originally intended to host both American football and baseball. The stadium's first tenants were the famed NFL team the Washington Redskins. It has also hosted the Washington Senators and Washington Nationals baseball team, as well as the NASL's Washington Diplomats (who later played one season, 1991, in the USL). In 1996 DC United moved in and have stayed ever sense though they're looking to build a riverside stadium within the District.
RFK Stadium hosted World Cup matches in 1994 and MLS Cup finals in 1997, 2000 and 2007.
