OFC U-17 Championship 2003

The tenth edition of the OFC U-17 Championship took place in 2003 and doubled as qualification for the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship™ in Finland. The tournament was held between Australia and American Samoa with the final played over two legs in New Caledonia.

Group A was played in American Samoa and saw New Caledonia qualify for the final after going through the group stages unbeaten, while in Group B Australia advanced with fives wins from five.

In the final, Australia took the early advantage with a 3-1 victory in the first leg in Noumea, before finishing the job with a 4-0 victory at days later. The 7-1 victory on aggregate saw Australia clinch their third consecutive and ninth OFC U-17 Championship title overall.

At the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Championship Australia fought hard and were unlucky to not have won a match at the tournament, after losing three close games against Argentina, Nigeria and Costa Rica.
