Currently on loan from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion, the former Waikato FC frontman has impressed the powers that be both for club and country.
Wood scored in the All Whites’ 1-1 draw with China last week and retained that form on his return to England, netting the winner for his side in its hard-fought victory over Leeds United on the weekend.
Stooping low to head a Shane Lowry cross into the net in the 85th minute, Wood scored his seventh goal of the season to help extend Millwall’s unbeated run to 10 games.
Millwall coach Kenny Jackett says it was a quality goal.
“It was a fantastic ball from Shane Lowry and Chris was in the right place at the right time,” Jackett says.
“I’m very pleased. Any win in the Championship is hard earned. Millwall versus Leeds games are passionate and this was no different.”
