In a first for football in New Zealand, the match will be offered pay-per-view everywhere outside the two nations where the match is being broadcast live on TV – in New Zealand that is on Sky Sports 3.
For just $7.99 NZD, fans can tune into Wednesday night match, presented by Stuff.co.nz and online streaming specialist VPTV.
“It’s a new opportunity for the sport and for football fans living outside New Zealand,” said New Zealand Football Chief Executive Grant McKavanagh.
“We’re a global sport and we have a global market so it’s something we are looking to provide for and capitalise on.”
“We’re dipping out toes into the water and long term it’s another way for us to make home games financially viable. But at $8 we think there’ll be a fair amount of expat Kiwis and Jamaicans logging in, and even interest from other CONCACAF nations.”
