Luganville-based coach Kaison Maki spoke on behalf of the group on the final day of the course on Friday, thanking FIFA and OFC for offering the course, and crediting Shirley for his delivery of the content.
“Our special thank you goes to the instructor Daniel Shirley. He is one of the best instructors in OFC,” Maki said.
“He has helped us by providing a lot of coaching ideas and has also helped to show us the importance of teaching basic football to young children. One important thing he shared with us is before we start to teach football to the children, we as coaches must first know the child and understand them.
“We all know that Daniel has his own plans for the future but this week we have been privileged to have him with us in Vanuatu. I would like to thank you Daniel for your time, and
we wish you all the best for the future,” he concluded.
Shirley said the course went smoothly and he would describe it as a very successful course covering both theory and practical sessions.
“Rather than the commitment of the trainees, what really impressed me during this course was that the Vanuatu Football Federation authorities, the President, the CEO, members of the executive committee and all staff members were here from the very beginning to the very end of the course.
“This shows how fully VFF is committed to the promotion of the beautiful game.”
Successful participants were presented with their OFC C Licence coaching course certificate and a FIFA attendance certificate.
