The purpose of its establishment is to introduce the children between the age of 5-15 with football skills such as dribbling, passing, heading and shooting on goal. However, as the name suggests – the main aim of the program is simply for children to have fun.
Volunteer coaches conduct the sessions, some of who are also former members of the Samoan National Teams – both Men and Women. The program gives them a chance to share their knowledge and skills to these youngsters.
FFS CEO Sarai Bareman comments “the Fun Football program is the Federations flagship program – we currently have 3 sites around Apia and will continue to grow and expand the program further as its popularity increases”
The programme was started in June 2009 and is free to all the children who want to participate.
It runs every Mondays and Wednesday from 3:30pm to 5:30 at JS Blatter Football Complex and at the community field at Moataa. It also runs on Fridays from 3:30 to 4:30pm at Samoa College, Vaivase.
