The club captain has just arrived back in the country after playing a key role in New Zealand’s historic campaign at the FIFA World Cup in South Africa.
But any hopes the Oceania Football Confederation men’s player of the year might have had of a quiet homecoming are set to be dashed.
The club is understandably proud of Vicelich’s achievements and will mark them with a special presentation at City’s Kiwitea St headquarters in Sandringham today from 6pm.
All football supporters are welcome to attend.
Entry is free and a cash bar will be operating. The formalities will start at 7.30pm.
Along with welcoming him home, Auckland City will be making a special presentation to Vicelich in recognition of the fact that he is the first player in the club’s history to have participated at a senior FIFA World Cup tournament.
The award will also acknowledge his long and outstanding service to football in New Zealand and Oceania over the past two decades.
