Wood was recalled from his loan spell at Millwall this week by his English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion as they prepared to offload the in-form Kiwi.
The 21-year-old has impressed in his fifth stint on loan from the Hawthorns – having previously been with Barnsley, Brighton, Birmingham City and Bristol City – hitting home 11 goals in 19 appearances for the Lions.
Albion assistant manager Keith Downing says Leicester have shown a great deal of interest in Wood, with Millwall also keen to make his loan with the club permanent.
“He’s done exceptionally well at Millwall and we’ve brought him back here. I expect the move to be done when the transfer window opens,” Downing says.
Wood, who has made 29 appearances for his country, has agreed a three-and-a-half year contract, with the deal reportedly worth close to NZ$2.5 million.
