The course is part of the focus on youth development which is being ushered in by the new Solomon Islands Football Federation Executive Committee, led by President William Lai.
The youth refereeing course will prepare referees for the Telekom S-League Youth Division League which covers the U-19 category. The competition will feature the next generation of the nation’s best footballers and is scheduled to get underway next month.
SIFF referee development officer Justin Mutukera says it is a huge opportunity for setting young referees on a path to their dream.
“This is unique in the sense that such a high calibre course is being made available to referees at this level,” Mutukera says.
“Normally, referees have to rise through the ranks over five to ten years before they get the benefit of FIFA training so I encourage our young referees to utilise this opportunity well.”
