The neutral location in Labasa was chosen as the setting for the third and final leg of the play-offs between the two sides who were vying to contest promotion from the Premier Division to the Super Premier Division of Fiji’s national league.
Tailevu Naitasiri went into the match with the upper hand after defeating Taveuni 2-0 in the 2012 Courts Inter District Premier Division final a fortnight earlier.
However with the score locked at 0-0 and extra-time failing to separate the two teams, the match had to be decided by penalty-kicks.
Tailevu Naitasiri are now set to battle Tavua who will be fighting to remain in the Super Premier Division.
This comes after a successful protest by Savusavu, claiming Nadroga had fielded an unregistered player during their clash, saw them awarded an additional three points taking their total to 13.
Meanwhile, Tavua lost a protest against Navua to leave them at the bottom of the league standings on 11 points.
The promotion-relegation series is due to begin next month.
