Among the buildings that sustained damage were three major sporting grounds including Govind Park in Ba.
Fiji Football Association CEO Bob Kumar says the cyclone has affected grounds in Lautoka, Nausori and Ba.
“The structure, the pavillions on both sides of the ground have been ripped off,” he says of Govind Park.
“The roofs have fallen off – it’s lying on the main ground at the moment so definitely Govind Park is out of use now. Churchill Park in Lautoka was under construction – that is also out of use – and the Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori has also had severe damages.
“The floodlights have come down as well so definitely these three grounds will be out of use for the next few weeks.”
