The OneWorld Flight Centre-sponsored annual Fiji FA awards will take place on February 23 at the Fun Plaza Hotel in Nadi.
The list of nominees was released yesterday and Fiji FA CEO Bob Kumar says they received a very positive response again this year with many of the district associations keen to nominate their players and officials.
“All the nominations were received well before the deadline,” Kumar says.
“We appreciate One World Flight Centre’s support and kind gesture on sponsoring the awards night and helping recognise the hard work the players and the officials have done last year,”
The evening is expected to be a resounding success with nominees in everything from men’s and women’s footballer of the year to referee of the year and includes a fair play award too.
A total of 11 awards are up for grabs with the association keen to recognise the exploits of the players, coaches and teams, as well as the administrators working hard behind the scenes.
Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel says he is excited to see who will triumph at the awards and adds that no-one should be discouraged because they failed to be nominated.
“I urge the winners at this year’s awards not to stop just yet but to strive for further excellence to see football in Fiji reach greater heights,” Patel says.
“To the nominees who have missed out this year do not be saddened as this is not the end of the road and there are many more incentives along the way.”
