Port Moresby will play host to 15 visiting countries from all over the world in a major milestone achievement for the country.
PNG Football Association president, David Chung, who presented PNG’s brief covering all aspects as per FIFA’s guidelines at Zurich, Switzerland said he received a positive outcome from the executive committee.
“FIFA acting general secretary Markus Kartner and FIFA head of OCL competition Collins Smith received the report on infrastructure, medical plan and security,” Chung said.
“The brief which had also Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s letter of guarantee gave weight to the report as well,”
Chung said they are fully satisfied of PNG’s seriousness and for that advised him for the PNG Local Organising Committee and all stakeholders to get the wheels in motion.
“Now it is important for all stakeholders to work together towards the deadline.”
According to our timeline one, each phase of construction to be completed on time as the next FIFA inspection visit is in three months time to see the progress,” Chung added.
Chung made special mention of the support from Prime Minister O’Neill, Minister for Sport Justin Tkatchenko, NCD Governor Powes Parkop and importantly all the stakeholders that have put their hands up to work extra hard to get this bid endorsed.
“This is only the start of lasting legacies that FIFA will leave behind,” he added.
