The Sable Dancers, a side which has welcomed a number of Tahiti’s national beach soccer players into its folds, subdued the defending champions Grasshoppers Club Zurich for the second time in a row to claim the cup with a 10-3 victory.
After defeating the side 6-2 in a vibrant display last week the Sable Dancers prolonged their rivals misery on Sunday, 25 August as they took the coveted title.
The combination of Swiss talent and Tahitian power has proven a winning formula for player-coach Angelo Schirinzi who continues to act as a technical advisor to the Tiki Toa ahead of September’s FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup which is being held in Papeete, Tahiti.
Tiki Toa Tearii Labaste was the competition’s top scorer for the season with 45 goals to his name, with his closest rival lagging three goals behind.
