A pair of games will be played in each of the major centres, in Lae at Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium and in Port Moresby at Bisini Oval.
A total of eight women’s teams will take part in the competition this season, four of which are based in Port Moresby and the other four in Lae.
Defending champions Bara will be out to prove their title win last season was no fluke and that they remain a force to be reckoned with when they face Wau on Saturday.
The morning’s second game in Lae sees Poro, a newcomer to the competition, attempt to get their first ever points in their debut appearance against PNG Power.
There will be just as much drama on show over in Port Moresby, where Hekari Wantoks will be desperate to put last season’s disappointing campaign behind them and restore some pride with a win over Vats Yamaros.
In contrast, Inter Uni enjoyed a fine run of form to finish runners-up in the previous competition and will look to carry that over to the new season against Mungkas.
