After a close 1-0 loss in the first leg Suva, on the back of their recent run of good form in the National Football League, were optimistic that they were on track for an upset.
Ba’s 1-0 loss in the national league to Nadi last Saturday also gave them a confidence boost but the Yogendra Dutt-coached side proved why they are the giants of the game in this part of the world.
Malakai Tiwa struck the opening goal of the match just two minutes in to the first half. Stunned by the early goal Suva’s defence lost their shape and 11 minutes later skipper Simione Maikali scored an own goal.
More trouble followed as Ba striker Mavileko Nakama struck a third for his side on the 23rd minute.
In the second half Suva came out strong but all their hard work went to waste when Avinesh Waran Suwamy’s powerful drive made it 4-0.
Suva substitute Semi Rokoqica pulled one back but the joy was short lived as Nakama got his second and Ba’s fifth just seven minutes later.
