In a first for Vanuatu football Tafea FC headed to Luganville Soccer Stadium in Santo to take on Spirit 11 FC of Torba FA in the first of the semi-finals.
It was no walk in the park for the visitors against a side hoping to make a bit of history of their own, but Tafea coach Moise Poida managed to keep his side calm and collected.
Three goals for Tafea’s Robert Tasso, Alista Kalip and Sika Mahuni went unanswered as the 2014 OFC Champions League participants lined themselves up for a second consecutive appearance at the region’s premier club competition.
For 2014 Champions League runners-up Amicale FC the final score indicated a much easier run to the final.
The Richard Iwai coached side romped their way past Malampa Revivors of Luganville netting seven goals on their way to victory at Port Vila Stadium.
Nigerian striker Sanni Issa and Vanuatu native Kensi Tangis were the heroes of the match, both claiming hat-tricks, before Fenedy Masauvakalo proved his worth as he hit home the seventh.
The key players for the grand final now set, Amicale FC will face rivals Tafea FC at 2pm on Saturday, 19 July in Port Vila.
The winner of the match automatically qualifies for the 2015 OFC Champions League, with the runner up potentially joining them.
