Held annually since 1994, the Algarve Cup is a FIFA-sanctioned invitational event involving 12 nations and divided into four groups.
This year’s competition will be held from 24 February to 3 March 2010 with Sweden hoping to defend their title.
Fiji’s Vulivuli, who works as a school teacher in Savusavu, says she is looking forward to having a good outing at the event.
She believes the exposure at the recent OFC U-20 Women’s Championship in New Zealand last month has set a perfect platform for her to further excel.
“I’m looking forward to this tournament. This is not the first time for me to officiate at the Algarve Cup. I officiated in 2008 but was not able to travel last year due to work commitments,” Vulivuli said.
The former national women’s team rep says she is eager to further prove herself in Portugal in order to be considered for future FIFA tournaments.
“I plan to take each match as it comes and to do my best because referees from this tournament are considered for the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany,” Vulivuli said.
