Junior Football Ferns head coach Tony Readings, who doubles as the assistant coach of the senior Football Ferns, will be joined by assistant coaches Gordon Forest and Craig Alexander as they build towards the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Uzbekistan, while Brett Angell will assist Young Football Ferns head coach Paul Temple on the road to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan.
Forest, a UEFA ‘A’ licensed coach and former professional in the Scottish league is currently a development officer for the Scottish FA and soon to join the Northern Football Federation as its Football Development Manager.
Alexander, the current coach of the Glenfield Rovers women’s team and manager of the Junior All Whites, who head to their own U-20 World Cup in Colombia in July, has also held assistant coach or team manager positions with the Football Ferns, Auckland City, Waitakere United, Central United and Glenfield Rovers (men).
Angell is the current Football Development Manager for Central Football after an 18-year professional career that took in stints at Everton, Sunderland and QPR. Following the end of his playing days, the UEFA ‘A’ licensed coach added roles as Portsmouth youth coach, reserve team manager and Wales U-19 coach to his CV.
The goalkeeping coaches will be Danny Robinson (U-20) and Nigel Piper (U-17), while the managers will be Rob Pickstock (U-20) and Claire Hamilton (U-17).
Craig Harrison will act as sport scientist for both teams.
