All nine teams in the men’s topflight club competition division are preparing for a close finish as four rounds remain before the play-offs. Just eight points separate the top six teams.
If the previous round is anything to go by then there will be plenty of tight matches in the last part of the season.
On Day 14 of the competition at the weekend, Tefana beat Dragon 3-2 to move into fifth spot, just one point behind Venus and with a game in hand. Venus meanwhile could only manage a 2-2 draw with Tac who sit bottom of the table.
Pirae moved into second place after a 2-0 win over Vaiete while O-League representatives Manu Ura drew 1-1 with T.Faa’a. Manu Ura’s commitments with OFC’s regional club competition has seen them slip two games behind the other teams. With two wins, Patrick Pito’s side could take top spot in the Championnat D1.
At the bottom of the table, there is still plenty of intensity. JT moved from the bottom of the table ahead of Tac after a courageous 3-2 victory over T.Faa’a. Young players from the national age group teams are gaining good experience with JT.
