The Port Vila Shield will kick off early next year and has been made possible through a collaboration between the Port Vila Football Association (PVFA) and the Port Vila City Council.
Lord mayor of Port Vila Ruben Olul signed an agreement last week to sponsor the competition for the next three years.
The support from the council means the competition is able to offer a lucrative prize to the winning side – VT 100,000 and a full set of uniforms.
PVFA president Christian Kaltabang says the association is grateful to have the backing of the Port Vila council.
“On behalf of my executive, players, referees and supporters we would like to show our appreciation to our municipality,” Kaltabang says.
“This is great news and we are very grateful to have the support as we continue to develop football in Port Vila.”
