With his vast football administrative experience, Dr. Khan is the first preson in the Oceania region to be given the task to hold the Deputy Chairman’s post.
Speaking to Fiji FA Media Dr. Khan says he believes the new role will be useful in further promoting football in Fiji.
“This is a huge achievement not just for me but the whole of Fiji FA and the people. This is the first one for the whole of Oceania region. When others will ask where I’m from Fiji will be mentioned. It is a big thing for the nation which needs to be appreciated.
“FIFA has agreed to appoint me as the FIFA Disciplinary Committee Deputy Chairman,” Dr. Khan said.
Under his new role Dr. Khan will be required to be part of various FIFA sanctioned tournaments.
In the past, Dr. Khan has been a member of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany and the 2003 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Finland while also serving as the acting chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee at the 2004 Futsal World Cup in Chinese Taipei.
He was also involved in disciplinary committees at the 2000 Olympic Games in Australia, the FIFA U-20 World Cup Nigeria 1999 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in USA, also in 1999.
The Fiji FA President says he is looking forward to the new challenges ahead of him.
