Kete recently wrapped her second season with Australian W-League club Sydney FC, playing alongside fellow Flash forward Samantha Kerr. During the recent season Kete scored four goal for her side, which bowed out of the semi-finals with a 3-2 loss to eventual champions Melbourne Victory.
The Auckland-born striker was also a member of Sydney’s W-League Championship team in the 2012-13 season, and won the title the previous year as a member of Canberra United.
“Kete has done well for the past couple of seasons with Sydney FC and wants to play at the highest level of women’s soccer,” Flash head coach and New Zealand native Aaran Lines says.
“It will also be nice to ahve a Kiwi, not only here at the club, but competing in the NSWL.”
Kete first appeared with the Football Ferns in 2007 and, in 2008, appeared in each of New Zealand’s group stage matches during the Summer Olympics and was a member of the Football Ferns 2011 Women’s World Cup squad which travelled to Germany.
Her club career has included stints playing in leagues in Canada, England, Finland, Germany and Australia. In 2009, her professional career began when she signed with the Ottawa Fury of the Canadian W-League. Two years later, she signed with PK-35 of the Naisten Liiga where she won her first championship, as the team defeated Ilves 2-0 for the 2011 Finnish Cup. Kete scored the game’s second goal.
Kete will be addded to the roster pending the receipt of her P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
